Kid’s bedroom design on a budget with Wall stickers

by Joe

Bedrooms are where we spend most of our time. If you look closely a bedroom can reveal a little insight into one’s personality. It is where we start and end our day. Bedroom is the one place you can truly call yours and be yourself. It is much the same for kids. A planned out and structured design can go a long way. Because we know how messy it can get!

Designing your kids bedroom on a budget isn’t simple, in fact it can take some head scratching to come up with an effective design and layout for them to feel comfortable. Considering your budget, the available space, colour preference and so on, you original budget can easily spiral out of control.

Here are a few helpful tips for decorating your kid’s bedroom:

1. A good place to start is a theme. You can base it around your kid’s favourite cartoon character such as winnie the pooh, thomas the tank engine, spiderman, fairies or similar. You can easily find a lot of decorative additions for curtains, bed linen and lamp shades and so on.

2. If the exisiting accessories and furniture in your kid’s room is still good you’d want to keep as much as possible. You’ll be able to reuse most of it once you have your theme colours. Its easy to blend colours together.

3. Before you consider stripping the old wall paper or buying the new room paint, take a look at our post on colour chart. It will help you consider which room colours to use for particular effects. Obviously, for your kid’s bedroom the warmer the colours the cosier it will be, however, you’ll need to take into account your kid’s chosen theme and check how that corresponds in the colour chart. Repainting will most probably be more cost effective than wallpaper, but an alternative solution is using wall stickers. You can easily add life to the old wall with a set of wall stickers. They’re really easy to use and can be up in a matter of minutes. They are permanent, but will not damage or leave any unwated residue on your wall when you decide to take them down. You can definitely find the design you need and even have the option of custom made wall stickers.

4. Now that you have the bare bones its time to find the accessories for the theme mentioned in step 1. Finding decor for your kid’s chosen theme is relatively easy. Doing a simple search in google will bring thousands of products for you to choose.

5. Now to arrange everything in place so that it is easily managed. Kids have a tendancy to untidy a room however large or small. Make it easy for them to tidy it back up. A toy cabinet is a must if you have space for it.

Long time no see

by Joe

Its been quite a while since my last post. So long that I’ve had 1023 spam comments! I must install some spam protection of some sort. Why would people spend so much time writing these comments, they must be using spam bots surely?? They’re so creative too. Spamming topics from car loans to tazers and everything in between. If they had spam on topic perhaps then the comments would be allowed.

I’m heading to the backroom for some more deletions. Will be back soon with another post!

Decorating the children’s bedroom

by Joe

Decorating your child’s bedroom can often be a fun and satisfying experience. It can also become quite stressful. There are literally endless things to consider such as choosing the right colour wall paint or wallpaper design, the right furniture, lighting, floors, curtains, desk etc, and the list goes on.With so much to consider it is quite easy to spiral away from your initial budget.

Getting the kids involved is definitely a good thing. At the end of the day it’s their bedroom and will most likely be the room they spend most of their time in. Therefore if they’re old enough always get their opinion on the colour preference, or even better, if they like one particular theme such as Thomas the tank engine, Spiderman or Winnie the Pooh, you can build around the colour and even find items for that particular character. A theme is always a good starting point.

Colour Coordination

by Joe

Using wall stickers is great way to highlight particular areas in your room, it is also very effective in adding life to your walls. If you are looking to add some colour to your existing décor, you will need to experiment with the colours to see which fits best with your current scheme. In general white and lighter coloured walls will blend with almost any colour and type of wall decorative. Any colour decorative will effortlessly stand out on lighter walls, with the obvious exceptions of white decorative on white backgrounds and similar colours on similar wall backgrounds. Warmer and darker coloured walls can also be blended with contrasting or similar lighter/darker tones. For instance, applying a light pink wall sticker to a deep pink coloured wall would work well and effectively create a two tone colour blend. Similarly, a white decorative on a light grey wall would have the same effect.

September already, kids are back to school!

by Kia

Wow! Its September already. It seems like only a couple of posts ago I wrote an article on children’s summer activites. “Time flies when you’re having fun!”. Thats partly right, but it goes by even quicker with the kids are around! You may have noticed that we’ve kind of neglected our blog in the past month, thats because we’ve been busy upto our eye brows with our new wall sticker range, plus entertaining the kids have taken a lot out of us… so as you can see we’ve had our hands a little full. Our blog will be open back up for business as usual from today.

Butterfly Wall Stickers – We love them!

by Joe

It would seem we all love butterfly wall stickers. Our butterfly wall stickers have been one of the top sellers this summer season and is still going strong. Even though the summer has pretty much dissipated, there still seems to be a lot of interest in the lovely butterfly wall stickers.

If you look at our lovely collection you’d see why too. Not only do they resemble actual butterflies, but they are the easiest to use and with so much choice you could really blend them into any coloured walls, windows or even furniture. The characteristics are so natural too, they come in all shapes, size and colours just as the real ones would.

You can use the butterfly wall stickers in many different ways but I would suggest applying them together in one compact area as in the picture below. The effect is pretty cool.

Huge mushroom looked like a tree stub

by Kia

In my local area I came across what seemed to be a tree stub. Upon closer inspection it turned out to be a gigantic mushroom! Who would have thought they can grow so close to a busy roundabout. I’m in Middlesex which is quite suburb but this looked more like something you’d find in a jungle! See for yourself.
